It’s been a rough year. In addition to the current state of the world and other external stressors, we’ve survived Mercury Retrograde and a Blue Moon on Samhain. This was also a time of intense shadow working, where many of us took up the difficult task of understanding and conquering our shadows.\nIt’s been a rough year, and now it’s time to understand that we deserve blessings. \nA blessing is anything positive that we ask for ourselves and others, or ask for help and strength in manifesting ourselves. This can be something big and life altering, such as true love or a new job, or it can be something sweet and small, such as a good cup of coffee or a fun new book to read. Nothing is too minimal to be considered a blessing, and it’s often the small things in life that can bring us the most joy.\nIf you are anything like me, then you likely have a hard time asking for things. It doesn’t matter if it’s physical, mental, or emotional – it’s too easy to feel like a burden when I ask for something, especially in magick. Because of this, it can be hard for me to work magick for myself, and I find that most of my spells end up being for the benefit of others.\nThere’s nothing wrong with this! One of the beautiful things about magick is the aid we can offer to others. Magick is meant to be shared; after all, the rule of three dictates that what you put out, the universe will return threefold. The more positivity you spread, the more positivity you should receive!\nAs Inked Spirit moves from shadow working into blessings and gratitude, I wanted to write this post to remind all of us that we are worthy of our personal magick. We deserve to ask for blessings, and we deserve to receive them with zero guilt, fear, or shame. \nManifesting blessings may be a slow process for some of us, and that’s okay. Here are a few ways to start out. Most of these are more mundane, because if you aren’t grounded in the physical world, it’s harder to perform magick. As you become more comfortable, feel free to expand these tips and incorporate some magick and spiritual practices as well!\n\n\nDisconnect: Turn off electronics as much as possible, and take a break from social media. It’s been scientifically proven that spending too much time on social media leads to increased feelings of depression and anxiety. It’s hard to manifest good things for ourselves when we’re constantly “doom-scrolling” the news or comparing ourselves to others we see online.\n\nEveryday Gratitude: Incorporate daily affirmations into your routine. Morgan already started you all off by asking you to write down things you are grateful for. Keep up this energy! Look at yourself in the mirror and focus on one thing you’re grateful for in your life. Some days, you may feel like you can list more, and others, one might be more than enough to think about.\n\nJournal: Journal, journal, journal! We’re constantly talking about journaling at IGC, and that’s because it’s an immeasurably valuable tool! I’m guilty of only writing in my journal when I’ve had a bad day and need to vent, but we could all benefit from also noting the good days.\n\nTreat Yourself: This one is pretty self-explanatory. When your financial status allows for it, treat yourself! This could be a new book, a fancy Starbucks coffee, or some fun witchy retail therapy! There doesn’t always need to be a reason to treat yourself either; you woke up, and you’re doing your best, and that should be celebrated! As you celebrate, feel the happiness and joy that it brings to you.\n\nExpressing gratitude and understanding our own worth isn’t often easy. It’s going to be a journey to manifest good things for ourselves, but it’s going to be worth it. After the difficult months of shadow working, the winter weather is inviting us to express our gratitude for the good things in our lives and to ask for and work toward blessings.\n~Nicole\nAuthor Bio: Nicole is an eclectic witch with interests in the Tarot, Celtic mythology, gemstones, and folk magic.
