Make 2026 Your Most Feral Year Yet!

Make 2026 Your Most Feral Year Yet!

Let's be real: It's time to stop performing. It's time to stop shrinking. It's time to stop making your magick palatable for people who will never understand it anyway. This is your invitation to make 2026 the year you stop domesticating yourself and start howling at the moon like you mean it.

This isn't about New Year's resolutions or vision boards or manifesting your dream life through perfectly curated altar photos. This is about “undomestication:” stripping away every layer of "should" that's been wrapped around your wild, instinctual, authentic magickal self.

What Does Feral Mean?

Society has been training you since birth to be quiet, to be nice, to stay small, to follow the rules. And somewhere along the way, that domestication seeped into your craft too. Maybe you started worrying if your correspondences were "right." You might have second-guessed your intuition. You may have even secretly apologized for practicing magick in your kitchen instead of a pristine sacred space.

F that.

Being feral is about undomesticating yourself and remembering that you were born with innate wisdom, personal power, and incredible potential. Before anyone told you the "proper" way to cast a circle or the "correct" herbs for a spell, you knew how to whisper your wishes to the wind and feel the power move through you. I mean, how many of us witches crafted “potions” in our backyard growing up?

2026 is the year you remember. And then? You run with it.

Your Feral Year: Seasonal Challenges

Here's a fun option for growing your magick and embracing your feral, powerful self in 2026. We’re starting with no rigid resolutions and no pressure to be perfect. Just four seasonal invitations to get increasingly feral as the year unfolds. Each season, embrace one or more of these simple challenges to integrate more feral energy into your day-to-day life.

Be sure to save this blog so you can come back to it each season!

Winter 2026: Hibernate Unapologetically

The world will tell you that January is for fresh starts and productivity. We’re rejecting that right now. Winter is for rest, and rest is a radical act when the outside world tells you to grind 24/7.

Your Feral Challenge:

  • Say no without explaining yourself.
  • Sleep in without guilt.
  • Let your altar gather dust if you need to.
  • Practice absolutely zero magick if that's what your body needs.
  • Hibernate like the animal you are.

Ritual Idea: The F*ck-It Hibernation Spell

Light a single candle (even a tea light works), wrap yourself in the coziest blanket you own, and declare out loud: "I am resting, and that is magick enough."

Then turn off your phone and do absolutely nothing productive. That's the whole spell.

Spring 2026: Shed What's Dead

When the world starts waking up, it's time to look at what you've been dragging around that no longer serves you. And I'm not just talking about cleaning out your altar, though if it’s gotten a bit dusty, take some time to straighten things up. A great cleaning and energetic cleansing can go a long way!

Your Feral Challenge:

  • Release magickal practices that feel like obligation, not joy. It’s ok if you’ve outgrown them or they never really fit.
  • Stop following witchy social media accounts that make you feel inadequate.
  • Quit a tradition that never resonated with you.
  • End relationships (or set boundaries) with people who mock your craft.
  • Gift the tools you bought to look "witchy" but never use to another witch.

Ritual Idea: The Shedding Ceremony

Go outside and find something dead, like a dried leaf, a broken twig, or a withered flower. Hold it and name everything you're releasing this spring. Then break it apart with your hands and scatter it to the wind. Let nature compost your old shit.

Summer 2026: Run Wild

Summer is for being too much. Too loud. Too visible. Too intense. Too witchy. Too whatever-the-f*ck-you-want-to-be.

Your Feral Challenge:

  • Practice magick in public without caring who sees (but, don’t put yourself in any physical danger). There are plenty of ways to practice on the down-low and out in nature where others might see.
  • Speak your truth even when your voice shakes.
  • Take up space unapologetically.
  • Wear your witchiness on the outside. (Again, do so with your safety in mind. If you’re still in the broom closet, it’s ok to wear something that only YOU know is magickal.)
  • Do that big, scary spell you've been putting off.
  • Ask for what you want, from the universe AND from people.

Ritual Idea: The Visibility Glamour

Stand in front of a mirror and list every part of yourself you've been hiding. Your weird interests. Your intense emotions. Your magickal practice. Your body. Your voice. Then snarl at yourself (yes, literally snarl like the feral witch you are) and say: "I am too much, and I am enough. Watch me take up space." Wear that energy out the door.

Fall 2026: Harvest Your Rage

Autumn isn't just about gratitude and abundance. It's also about harvesting the hard stuff: the anger, the grief, the frustration you've been carrying. Because here's a secret they don't tell you: rage is fuel. Your anger is holy. And it's some of the most powerful magick you possess.

Your Feral Challenge:

  • Stop performing "love and light" when you're feeling fury.
  • Use your anger in your spellwork instead of suppressing it.
  • Call out injustice when you see it.
  • Protect your boundaries fiercely.
  • Let yourself be “difficult.” Chances are, you’re just standing up for yourself and others don’t love that.
  • Channel your rage into action, magick, or both.

Ritual Idea: The Rage Fire

Build a fire (or light a candle if that's what you've got). Write down everything that pisses you off: personal wounds, systemic injustices, betrayals, disappointments.

Read each one aloud with feeling. Scream if you need to.

Then burn them one by one, watching your rage transform into smoke and ash. That energy doesn't disappear. It transforms into power you can use. Combine the cooled ash with some salt for some powerful black salt to use in other rituals!

The Feral Manifesto: Write Your Own Damn Rules

Want to make 2026 truly feral? Write your own manifesto. Here are some prompts to get you started:

  • I will no longer apologize for...
  • My magick doesn't need to be...
  • I give myself permission to...
  • I release the belief that I must...
  • In 2026, I choose...

Write these down somewhere you'll see them. Your bathroom mirror. Your phone background. A sticky note on your altar.

Feral Doesn't Mean Alone

Here's the thing about being feral: you don't have to be a lone wolf. Wolves run in packs. And the most powerful magick happens when feral witches come together without judgment, without performance, without having to shrink themselves to fit in.

If you want a community where you can show up messy, authentic, rage-filled, grief-stricken, ecstatically joyful, or whatever you're feeling that day, the Inked Spirit Coven is where you belong. It's off social media, it's real, and it's full of witches who are done pretending to be anything other than exactly who they are.

Make 2026 the Year You Stop Performing

So, here's your invitation: make 2026 the year you stop domesticating your magick, yourself, your life. Stop making yourself small. Stop following rules that don't serve you. Stop waiting for permission to be who you actually are.

Get feral. Get messy. Get loud. Get real.

The world needs your wild magick: the kind that doesn't apologize, takes up space, and remembers we were never meant to be tame in the first place.

Stay magickal (and feral AF),
Megan Winkler
