Magickal Ways to Use Your Tarot Deck

Magickal Ways to Use Your Tarot Deck

Have you ever wondered if there are different ways to use tarot cards in your magick? A tarot deck is one of the most useful and, maybe surprisingly, versatile tools in a witch’s cabinet. Not only is it great for divination, but it can also help set you up for the day’s energy, promote creativity, or guide your spellwork. Let’s dive in!

Tarot for Meditation

Before sitting down to meditate, pull a card and let it guide you through your journey. You can even play some music that reminds you of the card for a fully immersive experience. Consider the card’s themes and message, and why it might be relevant to your present circumstances. Allow the card to guide you through your meditation and be sure to document what you experience.

Tarot in Spellwork

Tarot cards can provide a focus point for your spellwork, too. Simply find the best card for the magick you’re working and place it on your altar. For instance, the Queen of Cups is a great focal point for intuitive spells and other forms of divination. The Lovers is a great companion when casting love and sex magick. Place The Tower beside your spell crafting if you want to break down barriers or free yourself from limiting beliefs.

Tarot for Daily Energy

One of the simplest ways to connect with your tarot deck on a daily basis is to pull a single card in the morning. You can place it on your desk or altar space, so you see it throughout the day.

Combine a daily tarot card pull with your journaling practice for an extra magickal way to start the day. Spend some time with the card and ask yourself:

  • How does this card make me feel?
  • What symbols jump out at me?
  • Is there an archetype or theme in this card that's present for me today?
  • How can I carry this energy with me throughout my day?

Tarot for Creativity

Do you enjoy writing short stories or poetry? Try integrating your tarot deck into your writing practice. Pull a card, or several, and allow the meanings to inspire you to create something new. You can work with the card’s archetypal energy, or you can imagine that each card is a segment of the story. Follow the flow of energy and creativity to spark ideas.

Tarot for Decision Making

Ok, so I’m not saying you should rely only on your tarot deck when making decisions, but if you’re on the fence about something, pulling a couple of cards might help you understand what your Inner Wisdom wants you to know.

Remember, the cards don’t have the magick in them; the magick comes from you, your spirit guides, and your Higher Self. So, if you’ve weighed all the options and still feel lost, a couple of cards might help.

Have you tried one of these practices already?

Stay magickal,
Megan W.
