What is a Spiritual Warrior?
The difference between an ordinary person and a warrior is that the warrior takes everything as a challenge, not a curse. Do you find yourself wanting to be a part of the shift in global consciousness? Maybe you feel the drive to make the world a better place. If this resonates with you, you’re already a Spiritual Warrior at heart. As with every magickal practice, Spiritual Warrior Magick is a process, and there will always be something new to explore.
Take a moment to breathe deeply and tune into your heart. What aspect of living a Spiritual Warrior life do you want to work on most? Here are some helpful tips for strengthening that Warrior Magick within.
Liberation from Fear and Doubt
Spiritual Warriors have liberated themselves from fear and doubt. Now, this doesn’t mean that they don’t feel those emotions; it just means that they aren’t held captive by them. When fear creeps in, Spiritual Warriors feel it, acknowledge it, and work with the most demanding parts of the fear.
“The only way to ease our fear and be truly happy is to acknowledge our fear and look deeply at its source. Instead of trying to escape from our fear, we can invite it up t our awareness and look at it clearly and deeply.” – Thich Nhat Hanh from Fear: Essential Wisdom for Getting Through the Storm
The same is true with doubt. When you find yourself in self-doubt, ask why it’s coming up. What are you truly afraid of? You might be surprised to find that you’re not nearly as fearful as you thought you were.
Magickal Practices to Boost Your Spiritual Warrior Magick
As with all magickal practices, we can use a variety of rituals, spells, and mindset exercises to give it a boost. Protection magick, spells for courage, and adopting Loving-Kindness practices can go a long way in elevating your inner Warrior spirit.
We’ve discussed protection magick at length (read more here), and it’s one of the best ways to help you overcome your fears, and fight for others at a spiritual level. You can use protection spells to guard your home against people and entities that bring negativity, strife, and anger to your household. You can also explore magick for the protection of others.
Sigil magick is a great way to protect yourself and others. Laura Tempest Zakroff, author of several books on the subject offers this sigil for the protection of the vulnerable.
If you work with deities, call on Brigid, the Great Mother Celtic Goddess, for protection. Green Tara, the Mother Goddess in Tibetan Buddhism, can help you overcome fear and anxiety, and deflects negative energy.
Part of being a Spiritual Warrior involves living with courage. Courage doesn’t have to include big, bold moves. Courage can be quiet. It includes personal, one-on-one conversations with a friend or family member whose opinion differs from yours. In fact, some of the most courageous acts don’t involve any press coverage or large-scale movement at all.
Focus on your courage by carrying a red stone, like Garnet, Red Jasper, or Ruby, with you when you’re off to do something bold. Tuesdays are particularly suitable for courage spells – and protection spells, for that matter!
Finally, an illuminated heart full of kindness makes a Spiritual Warrior complete. Having a Loving-Kindness practice, either structured like this meditation, or through your own magickal practices, can help increase your compassion for others. Call on Quan Yin (sometimes spelled Kuan Yin), the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion to help strengthen your love for all humans.
As you move forward with love, compassion, and kindness in your heart, you’ll find that when you have difficult conversations, or you’re tempted to hex someone – we’ve all been there! – that you can more easily see things from another person’s point of view.
Witches make mighty Spiritual Warriors. Their dedication to discipline, their drive to make the world a better place, and their willingness to set the ego aside and overcome fears and limiting beliefs makes them perfect for Spiritual Warrior Magick.
